Wedding Day #2…
Taameir and Maulana met back in Harlem 2014. They taught at the same charter school. A friendship was built that over time which developed into an unbreakable love. Jump forward to 2017, Taameir surprised Maulana with a trip to Paris. They frequently played a game where Maulana would have to assemble a puzzle Taameir made in order to guess their next trip. The Eiffel Tower was their final destination. Even though it was raining, it didn’t stop Taameir from proposing to Maulana on his birthday.
Fast forward to the present. Taameir and Maulana planned an amazing New Orleans destination wedding at The Balcony from New York with the help of Elle R. Jae events. The impending threats from Hurricane Barry did not stop this couple. Rain, wind, flooding; there was no obstacle large enough to cancel their plans. With guests coming from out of town to witness their union, the love and support was definitely in the air.
Maulana prepped at the NOPSI Hotel and had her hair stylist drastically cut and color her hair between Friday’s church mass and Saturday morning; #Fierce ! She also had a gorgeous “second” custom made wedding dress; yes dress #2. Taameir prepped at the International House fitted in a custom tux that completed their ensemble. At the ceremony, Taameir made his grand entrance dancing down the aisle. His beautiful bride, elegantly walked down the stairs and was escorted by her brother. Taameir’s vows were a surprise to all. After reading them in English, he flipped them over and began to read them in French Creole; which is spoken by Maulana’s family. Maulana, along with her guests were awe struck at his dedication, practice and the aid of Google translate.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds partied the evening away at The Balcony Ballroom with great food, laughter, and music. To their amazement, The Balcony surprised them with the traditional New Orleans second line, umbrellas included, and a sparkler exit… and yes, the weather held up for all of it! Huge congrats to the two of y’all! We’re so glad to have been a part of your union and we’re thankful for the friendship we’ve built.
